It's very normal to feel a bit lost on a night out in a city, especially if you aren't staying within a party or social community. I was very lucky to spend three years of my life in and out of Budapest, so knowing where to go any day of the week is now one of my specialties within the city. Throughout this guide, I'll recommend some bars and activities that will get you set up for an amazing night (and potentially a 6am outing - you'll struggle to stay in at this rate).
Home away from home
Here's some bars that will put you right back on your feet if you're looking for somewhere that will immediately feel familiar.
Hoff House
Hoff House is one of the places that just feels like home. I'm not biased in saying this one bit - it absolutely is one of the places to visit no matter what vibe or wavelength you are on that evening. Whether you want a couple of quiet drinks, or whether you don't want to remember that night, it's the perfect place to start or end your night out.
Hoff House

Hoff House is one of Budapest’s go-to expat bars — the kind of place where cheap beer flows, the crowd is international, and the vibe is effortlessly social. Midweek deals keep it legendary: unlimited wings on Wednesdays and free fries on Tuesdays, which already tells you everything you need to know about the priorities here. Add in a lively basement-led pub crawl and regular bingo nights (both of which I’ll dive into later in this article), and you’ve got a bar that’s less about polish and more about pure, chaotic fun — in the best way
Ruin Brew: Brunch & Beer
Ruin Brew is a Hungarian-American brewpub, that serves unlimited bottomless brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-5pm for around $40. That's unlimited beer, espresso martinis, bloody marys and soft drinks, alongside their American comfort food menu for 5 whole hours. You will not find value like this anywhere else within the city.
Ruin Brew: Brunch and Beer
Ruin Brew is a proper Budapest staple for anyone who loves craft beer with character — every beer here is brewed in-house, so what you’re drinking is genuinely theirs from tank to tap. Wednesdays are borderline outrageous with unlimited drinking for $12, and on “Drinking with Matty” nights you can grab an extra drink for just $3, which usually turns a quiet plan into a long one. Throw in a packed calendar of bingo nights, quiz nights, and other chaotic-but-wholesome events, and you’ve got a bar that balances quality brewing with a seriously fun, social atmosphere.
